REQUIREMENTS NATO COURSE COURSE DESCRIPTIONS MODEL NATO CICP

The Lyman L. Lemnitzer Center for NATO and European Union Studies provide students with the opportunity to earn a minor in North Atlantic Security Studies. This minor/certificate is an interdisciplinary program combining courses focused on NATO and related security issues. The adviser is Dr. S. Victor Papacosma.

Students participate in the National Model NATO by enrolling in NATO, the Enduring Alliance (History 38095), a Spring Semester course on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The purpose of the course is to help students acquire a solid historical and functional understanding of NATO and to prepare them for participation as delegates to the Model. This course is required for the North Atlantic Security Studies Minor. When it is not offered, alternate arrangements are made for Kent State University students to participate in the Model.

The Model NATO, jointly sponsored by Howard and Kent State Universities, brings together college and university students from throughout the United States and Canada to study the role, organization, and activities of NATO through simulation augmented by briefings at the Embassies of NATO member-states. The annual NATO Model is held at Howard University (usually in late February).
