A Freshman Interest Group, or FIG, is a learning community that enrolls a cohort of students in courses linked around a theme. What this means is that students take certain classes each semester with the same group of peers. The students also participate in activities related to the FIG. Because FIG size is limited to 25 students, they provide a wonderful opportunity for students to be involved with a small group of like-minded peers while attending a large university.
Why Should I Participate in a FIG?

- Network and connect with faculty and staff
- Be assigned to an academic advisor with knowledge of majors within the College of Arts & Sciences
- Form relationships with your peers outside of the classroom
